A Fallen Star with a New Home

There is a place I visit every once in a while. A place where there are no pony ears to listen. A place where only the stars could hear me sing.

Up on the cliff, I listened as my voice echoed in the night. Just to watch something beautiful to notice how sad it was. I watched as stars fell from their sky… their homes. Down to earth where only ponies belonged. The sky was lit with shooting stars, but also there were falling ones. When as I watched, stunned by the sight, a star fell right in front of me. This star was very small, and looked as if it were dying.

If I hadn’t have known the powers my species held, if i hadn’t have paid attention to my elders, I wouldn’t have been able to help and save it. I picked the little star up in my tail, and watched as it closed around it. Worried, I stayed in that place til the little star woke up days later.

It was a warm night and all the stars were bright, I noticed the bright glow inside of the bulb of my tail. I looked back and watched amazed as the leaves opened and revealed a little purple-ish star, who yawned and looked at me.

“Who are you?” the small creature asked with a confused look on its little face. I couldn’t help but notice its size. It was the smallest star I’d ever seen with any of my kind. But I couldn’t help but love it.

“My name is Melody. Who are you, little star?” I watched as it floated out of the bubble in my tail. I still don’t understand what that stuff is made out of, but I feel I don’t want to know.

The star just looked at me then shook as if to say no.

“I don’t know who I am. I didn’t have a name yet. I just remember falling from home… and feeling the warmth of being taken care of and treated, then I woke up and here you are, Melody.” The little star frowned. “Can I ever go back home?”

I smiled sadly and shook my head. “As far as I know, you can not. But don’t worry, there are lots of star seeds for you to become friends with.” I stood up. “And I’ll always be here for you. I won’t let anything happen to you.”

The star looked at me and smiled. “Well… As long as you promise we won’t get separated, you can be my first friend in this strange place. Though… I think I need a name…”

“Well… Do you know any of the alphabet? If so, pick a letter you like.” I started to think of names, though all that came to mind was music related names.
“Well of course I know the alphabet. What do you think? I’m a kindergartener?” The little creature laughed. “I like… T. The letter T.” It looked at me with hope I could find a decent name. But I realized. I didn’t know if it was a boy or a girl star.

“Um… well, are you a boy or a girl?” I continued to think when the star answered, “I’m a boy.”

“Treble! Your name should be Treble.” I blurted out without really thinking or asking his opinion of the name. “Um… I mean… If you like...”

The star laughed at me again but smiled. “Treble sounds good. Thank you Melody.”

“Of course. You can call me Mel if you’d like. Its a nickname… maybe I could call you Treb for short.” I smiled and started to climb down off the cliff that had been my temporary home for a few days, waiting for my new friend.

Treble grinned and followed. “I like it, Mel.”

I felt relief wash over me, meeting the little starseed wasn’t as awkward as I thought it was going to be. And he doesn’t dislike me either. It looked to be a great start of a long friendship.

“Lets go home, Tiny.” I grinned and looked back at the small star who glared at me, then I laughed.
